Sicily summer 2020

Sicily wants to pay 50% of your Flight, 30% of your stay, and free museum tickets!

Kitesurf season in Sicily starts on the 3rd of June.

Italy’s government has signed a decree that will allow travel to and from the country from 3 June. It will also allow travel between the regions on the same day.

Tourism industry officials have been working tirelessly to find ways to rebuild the sector as fast as is safely possible,
considering ways to create social distancing at beaches, hotels, restaurants, and popular public monuments.

Sicily’s original scheme, baptized “Empty for Full,” would launch once Italy reopens its borders. Vouchers for discounted flights,
hotels and free museum tickets will be made available via the island’s official website, Visit Sicily.

“Sicily prepares a €50 million fund to give to tourists discounts on flights, museums, and attractions.
And for every three nights, one free,” reports Business Insider Italia based on the statement by Manlio Messina, Sicily’s tourism director,
who announced that “there will be 400,000 vouchers for discounts and giveaways to encourage holiday-makers who despite coronavirus fears, decide to go to the island.”

The free night will be financed by the region’s tourism department.

The vouchers, reports InformaSicilia, will be “paid in advance for tourist packages that include rooms booked in the hotel,
guided tours and tickets for theaters or shows in Sicily.
